Learning Objectives :

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe the pathophysiology of increased stroke risk from atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)
  • Summarize current evidence for pharmacology of oral anticoagulants in patients with atrial fibrillation and end stage renal disease
  • Explain safety concerns and monitoring parameters associated with the targeted therapies for patients with atrial fibrillation and end stage renal disease
