Learning Objectives :

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Discuss the epidemiology and pathology of ovarian cancer and the significance of breast cancer type 1 and type 2 susceptibility protein biomarkers (BRCA1/BRCA2) in treatment options
  • Explain the mechanism of action of PARP inhibitors, common adverse events, and how they are currently only used as second- or third-line maintenance therapy for advanced stage ovarian cancer
  • Recognize the current evidence for use of PARP inhibitors as frontline maintenance therapy in patients with ovarian cancer associated with a BRCA mutation or homologous recombination deficiency
