Series Learning Objectives:

Describe a current controversy in pharmacy clinical practice.
Discuss the current literature around the controversy, strengths, and weaknesses of methodology.

Seminar Learning Objectives:

List the negative effects associated with antibiotic use in the NICU.
Describe disease states within the NICU where antibiotic use can be minimized and evaluate tools for reducing unnecessary antibiotic use.
Identify appropriate duration of antibiotic therapy for specific infections and strategies for shortening antibiotic treatment in the NICU.
