Series Learning Objectives:

  • Describe a current controversy in pharmacy clinical practice.
  • Discuss the current literature around the controversy, strengths, and weaknesses of methodology.

Seminar Learning Objectives:  

  • List the negative effects associated with antibiotic use in the NICU.
  • Describe disease states within the NICU where antibiotic use can be minimized and evaluate tools for reducing unnecessary antibiotic use.
  • Identify appropriate duration of antibiotic therapy for specific infections and strategies for shortening antibiotic treatment in the NICU.
