Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify the pitfalls of standard agents for continuous sedation in the intensive care unit (ICU) and the need for alternative agents
  • Review the available literature regarding alternative agents for continuous sedation
  • Discuss the place in therapy for alternative agents for continuous sedation
