Learning Objectives :

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe the pathophysiology of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
  • Recognize the current guideline recommendations for managing patients with ARDS, including ventilator strategies, and prone positioning.
  • Examine the current literature surrounding the role of neuromuscular blocking agents in ARDS, including mechanism of action of these drugs and their impacts on mortality.
