  • Describe the reasons to promote the closure of a ductus arteriosus in both very low birth weight preterm infants and full term infants.
  • Describe the agents available for pharmacologic closure of a patent ductus arteriosus.
  • Describe the interventional options (e.g., catheter based and surgical based) to close a patent ductus arteriosus.
  • Describe the risk factors for neonatal refeeding syndrome (RS) and strategies for prevention and treatment.
  • Summarize current evidence surrounding recent ASPEN guidelines for parenteral nutrition filtering requirements, photoprotection of parenteral nutrition, and the safe use of newer lipid injectable emulsion for neonatal patients.
