Opioid Medication Storage and Disposal: Strategies to prevent opioid misuse
Description Heading link
Background:
In August 2019, the State of Illinois passed Public Act 101-0278, requiring the establishment of an evidence-based, non-commercial education program for Medicaid prescribers consisting of a web-based curriculum and academic educator outreach. As a result of this legislation, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services is partnering with the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy to provide drug information and academic detailing services through Illinois ADVANCE.
What is academic detailing:
Academic detailing is a one-on-one prescriber outreach program. It provides accurate, non-commercial, and up-to-date pharmacotherapy information. It is a unique interactive program tailored for each prescriber through customized and focused discussions. The educational materials provided during these visits are developed after a careful review of current clinical evidence.
How to participate and obtain CE:
Sign up for a 0.5 hour academic detailing session on one or more of the available CE topics at https://illinoisadvance.uic.edu/schedule-a-visit/.
You will meet with a clinical pharmacist for a brief academic detailing visit. Upon completion of the session, you will complete a post-assessment and submit an activity evaluation survey. Your CE credit will then be uploaded to CPE Monitor.
For more information about the CEs or the CE topics, contact illinoisadvance@uic.edu.
